                                      STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES

Role of Government: We believe government exists solely to provide the people with a stable environment in which they can enjoy peace, justice, economic freedom and the full measure of their God-given rights.

The Constitution: We believe the Constitution was prepared by wise men acting under the inspiration of God. If the Constitution is honored and followed as the founders intended, it will assure the American people of a national government that will not violate their unalienable rights or impose economic bondage through oppressive taxation or bureaucratic regulation.

The Sanctity of Human Life: We believe in the fundamental human right to life for the unborn, ourselves, and our posterity as framed by the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution; that this is a God-given right, unalienable by either man or state; that all men are created equal in the sight of, and under the unchanging laws of God.

The Family: We believe the family is the most important unit of society. The family is primarily responsible for the social, intellectual, emotional, spiritual and physical development, as well as the education of its children. The erosion of the family's role in building character and establishing qualities of good citizenship is the most dangerous threat to the present and future welfare of our Republic. It is the responsibility of every citizen and, more specifically, those elected to public office, to oppose philosophies or programs which usurp parental rights and duties, erode family unity, or diminish the role of the family unit.

Public Virtue: We believe the Constitution was written to govern a religious, moral, and honest people and that without these virtues the people would be incapable of self-government.

Protection of Sovereignty and Rights: We believe each branch of government has distinct powers as outlined in the Constitution. The powers of our federal and state governments should not be distorted, shifted or combined. The powers not specifically granted to the federal government by the Constitution are reserved to the states or the people. Each level of government should work within its own sphere of authority and not exercise coercion, threats, or undue influence against the others. The preservation of our state and national sovereignty is imperative and any attempts to erode or eliminate that sovereignty will be openly and vigorously opposed.

Selection of Leaders: We believe that honest, wise and good men and women who are actively committed to constitutional principles and their continued application in our Republic should be diligently sought out for public office and supported in their political service and activities.

The Economy: We believe a free market economy is the most effective way to motivate citizens to be productive and to develop their talents and abilities. Government policies and programs which inhibit the free enterprise system are to be opposed as a denial of the right of every citizen to equal opportunity under the law. Taxation that redistributes wealth undermines individual freedom and responsibility.
