The Equal Rights Amendment is not about Equal Rights—it is about ensuring abortion is legal in all nine months and taxpayer funded.
In 1982, the ERA fell three states short of ratification to be added as an amendment to the U.S. Constitution. However, abortion activists are now afraid that Roe v. Wade is going to fall, returning the decision of legal abortion back to the States. The National Organization for Women President, Toni Van Pelt, has already admitted, the ERA “is hugely important for reproductive rights, for birth control, for abortion…" To “protect” abortion, the pro-abortion lobby has decided to try to ratify the ERA in the remaining three states and then hope Congress or the courts will nullify the original time expiration. Legislators in Nevada and Illinois have already voted to ratify, there is only one state left. Please help us petition the State School Board to reject the Utah K-5 and 9-12 Science Standards Draft as proposed January 2019. We seek education standards that are objective and politically unbiased, with content that is scientifically diverse and robust.
. We are concerned how science is taught to our school children. The problem is, our current and these proposed standards don't allow critical thought or objective discussion regarding Darwinian evolution or other topics that have become politicized, such as global warming, because of the State Board of Education mandates. . Victim Targeting Penalty Enhancements - SB 103 4th Substitute (Also popularly referred to as Hate Crimes Legislation)
Thirteen years ago Republican Representative Lavar Christian worked with Democrat Representative David Litvack to craft and pass a bipartisan hate crimes bill that did not have a list of protected classes, it protected everyone equally. The purpose of the bill was to prevent any kind of targeting. Tomorrow, Friday, March 8th, at 8:00 AM the House Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Committee will hear SB103 Victim Targeting Penalty Enhancements. This legislation would allow an enhancement of penalty for a person who commits a crime against another based on characteristics on a specific list. This bill specifically says that it does not create protected classes (groups that are treated differently under the law.) However, we know that when a judge relies on statute that includes a specific list, the effect will be . . PROTECTED CLASSES! Utah's current Hate Crimes law is the best in the nation because it does NOT rely on lists, it protects EVERYONE EQUALLY! SB-103's list, however long, will never be complete enough to include everyone. And if it did, we wouldn't need a list because we could just say EVERYONE! This bill prohibits the old therapy practices subjecting a patient to physical discomfort through aversive treatment like electric shock, unpleasant physical sensations, or any practice that shames a patient. The bill does not infringe on the rights of parents, children and professional therapists to get help with same sex attraction or gender identity.
